The Adirondack Park and Lake George

The Lake George area is loaded with events over the summer. Whether you want to see the Elvis Festival, wave flags at the Fourth of July Parade, or ride your Harley at Americade, there's something to please everyone in Lake George. The Adirondack Park is a publicly protected, elliptical area encompassing much of the northeastern lobe of Upstate New York. It is the largest park and the largest state-level protected area in the contiguous United States, and the largest National Historic Landmark.
The park covers some 6.1 million acres a land area greater than the National parks of Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Glacier and Great Smokey Mountains combined.
A variety of trail levels for hiking, backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. The Adirondack Mountain Club publishes a complete set of guidebooks and topographic trail maps, from Short, Moderate, more difficult and high peaks trails.
